Microbicides Virucidal/Antiviral Technology and Products

Technology – The antiviral technology, predicated on its proprietary materials, specialty formulations and delivery systems can activate and stabilize compounds in specific oxidative states to deliver efficacious activity to disease targets.

OTC Herpes Antiviral Product – The Company has developed an OTC Herpes cold sore product that kills enveloped viruses in the herpes family, including HSV-1 (facial and ocular herpes), HSV-2 (genital herpes), VZV (chicken pox and shingles), and CMV (cytomegalovirus) at very low concentrations that are not toxic to host cells. Antiviral testing was conducted in cooperation with the National Institutes of Health and the University of Alabama. This product is also bacteriocidal against multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and gonococcus bacteria (the causative agents of gonorrhea). The Company’s initial OTC products are for the treatment of facial, ocular and genital herpes.

High-Level and Hard-Surface Disinfectants and Cleaners – The Company disinfect product portfolio include highly effective, non-toxic and safe, “green” high-level and hard-surface disinfectants and cleaners composed of plant derived GRAS ingredients, that kill microorganisms, and spores at room temperature. To date, no commercial hard-surface disinfectant is capable of killing spores or claims sporicidal activity at room temrature. Current commercial formulations require high temperature disinfection in industrial processes which is capital and energy intensive. Lower temperature disinfection would lead to lower cost and energy saving and thus are ecofriendly with lower carbon footprints. For the same reason they are more cost effective. These products will have extended use in food processing for food products like chicken and beef which could be treated before packaging to reduce or eliminate common pathogens like E coli and salmonella.

In laboratory tests, the Company’s disinfectant formulations achieved 6 log reductions (million-fold) of Bacillus subtilis (ATCC19659) and Clostridium sporogenes (ATCC 3584) spores in less than 10 minutes. It also achieved a 6 log reductions of the bacteria Salmonella choleraesuis (ATCC 10708), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 15442), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538), and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923, a multidrug-resistant [MRSA] strain) in less than 10 minutes. Theses formulations also effectively kill numerous fungi and other bacteria in less than 10 minutes
